VR Dev YouTube Series

October 2022

I have been making a dev log of my progress in VR through building an archery/crafting game. Progress has been slow due to paid work taking priority. It is a very enjoyable past-time.

I was recently playing Crossy Road (The new Frogger) and really wanted to see more impactful collisions ... so I made it, with first person perspective, dark lighting, ragdoll effects and blood on impact.

Made in Unity  over a few nights and optimized for playing in the browser.

So  far unnamed "Space Game" is a game that started with the name Quick 2D as it was meant to a quick exploration into 2D physics in Unity game engine.

I made the alpha version back in January and sent it out to a few friends in a desktop only version and was surprised by the amount of positive feedback.  Having been working on other projects for the last few months it was nice to come back to it with fresh eyes.

Recent additions include:

  1. Brower based platform
  2. Atmospheres that create drag and heat
  3. Analog UI instrument panel
  4. Many minor bug fixes

There will be future additions to the game and I welcome any feedback or bug reports.

Drift Escape

Drift escape is a simple example of a browser game built in unity. This game was made over a few nights.

Objective: Escape the arena by jumping over the wall

The escape ramp slowly raises if you can keep your score higher than 1

The score only increses if you are driving quickly

Hitting walls will deduct 200 points. Hitting the tower blocks has no penalty but they tend to make you crash into the walls High scores are only set if you escape

Controls: AWSD for driving, SPACE for handbrake, ESC to restart
